Talks and Presentations
Gwilym. along with his wife Carol, have a
range of talks on folk music subjects which they have delivered to many folk
festivals and societies. These talks include a Powerpoint presentation
with field recordings (both audio and video) and live music examples.
Subjects
include:

Folk music of
Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds - all aspects: song, morris,
customs, etc.

"Let us be
Merry" - Gloucestershire Christmas carols and wassails, plus a look
at the Mumming tradition

The History of
Morris Dancing - an entertaining look at Morris dancing from the 15th
Century
- "Across the Blue Mountains" - photos and recordings of
Gwilym's 97-98 field trips to the Appalachian and Adirondack mountains of the
USA. There is an article on this subject on the Musical
Traditions website.
- Grainger in Gloucestershire - The classical composer
Percy Grainger made several forays to the county to collect traditional songs.
The talk includes clips of the original 1907-1909 field
recordings.
- "Step it away" - music, dance, song and
speech of the gypsy community, with emphasis on Gloucestershire
- The Pipe and Tabor - Gwilym has given many
papers on this topic to the Taborers Society
