Songs and tunes collected in Southern England by Gwilym Davies

20 tracks • 55 minutes

Despite his Welsh name, Gwilym was born and brought up in Hampshire, as anyone who hears him speak will realise. From his teens onwards he has been involved in folksong and has made a point of noting and performing songs he has learnt from traditional singers in the South of England.

He met and recorded many traditional singers in Hampshire.Since moving to Gloucester, he has continued to note songs and has made several contacts among the travelling people of that county.

Gwilym has put many of those songs onto this CD honouring the memory of those old singers, some no longer with us, and keeping their songs and tunes alive.

".If you are a singer wanting unusual material or a lover of traditional song then do not pass this by — there are some real gems here."
Jerry Bix - What's Afoot - Devon's folk magazine
